As someone's earlier post described, the Melee Pit challenges can be some of the most frustrating content in Forbidden West. I gave up on the melee combo challenges for a few days, out of pure rage. I finally completed the challenges about an hour ago, and wrote some notes in hopes that they help other frustrated players.
There's no block or parry so Aloy has no real "defense" aside from dodge/roll. Her melee damage is mostly about stringing together combos, resonator blasts etc., instead of having upgradeable melee options (swords, hammers, axes etc). Aloy is a hunter, not a warrior. They have this broken combat system that they couldn't remove because they'd already invested in paying the artists for the skill tree, and paying game designers for the Pits. Its rubbish, but they couldn't fix it in time for launch. Maybe they'll fix it, and all the other things in a few months. Who knows.Nov 6, 2023 · Melee Pits.
