It's hard to find 147 gr range ammo. Practice with any standard pressure ammo will do. So practice with .115 gr, because thats the most common range ammo, & carry 147 is fine. The only problem is practice with standard pressure & carry plus P. Because of the velocity difference.

More bullet means more support for greater expansion & more wt retention for deeper penetration. Generally recoil will feel a bit softer as the bullet wt goes up. In 9mm I am not a fan of the 115gr so it is 124gr+p or 147gr+p HST.For the 9mm I only use N340. With 5,0 grain load with a Fiocchi 123 grain FMJ you get a Velocity of 1061,60 fps in a Para Ordnance LDA and 1054,00 fps in a walther P99. The power factor is 130,58 and 129,64. The N320 is a very good powder for .40 S&W when you use bullets in weight of 180-220 grain.

In short, for a given power factor, a 124 will actually shoot softer than a 115, and the perceived recoil for most shooters will be an even greater, downward difference. Agree, same for me.
