I pick up a few planks or logs and become extremely heavy loaded, and my movement speed decreases a lot. Because of this, it will take a long time for me to walk to the place where I want to build my walls, especially if I run out of trees near my base. Carpentry is easier to do, what with materials and such. Metalwork gives you 'better' end results.
