Not saying you can't get it to work but you would have to replace the petcock with a non vacuum assist variety but the info is what I see in Partzilla pic's and part reference compatibility.Fuel coming out of the vent on a carb means you are getting too much fuel into the bowl. This happens when the inlet needle becomes dirty/defective or the float get damaged/out of adjustment. Those are the only ways to get gas out of the carb vent line.
