The PSA Compact Dagger is a solid pistol. The overall reliability continues to improve each and every month. The ergonomics of the frame / grip are excellent. The $299.99 base model is an excellent value, however, the models with lightening cuts, MRDS cuts (including rear iron sight forward) are an even better value.

The Dagger, PSA Jakl, and PSA AK are hands down my favorite guns from Palmetto.Canik’s METE MC9 is a handsome pistol with a tough Cerakote finish. Although the front sight’s white paint was slightly imperfect, it didn’t affect performance. Reliability: 9/10. During testing the MC9 gave me no malfunctions or funny stories when running cheapo bulk 9mm or higher-end defensive rounds.ON THE RANGE. This Dagger is as basic as they come. Iron sights, no optic, just a standard Compact sized Dagger with nothing fancy. MSRP is $300, and it came with a single Magpul Glock 19 magazine. I made zero changes or modifications to this gun before review. Just shot it clean as is.

Many G19 parts are interchangeable. The Dagger uses Glock magazines. However, there have been some issues surrounding magazine fit. I’ll cover that later. One nice improvement over the Glock is the guide rod. PSA opted for a stainless steel guide rod. This is an improvement over Glock’s plastic guide rod.Recoil: The recoil is pretty snappy but that is the nature of sub-compact pistols. There is nothing worse or better about the recoil of this gun compared to other similarly sized 9mm sub-compacts which is why it gets a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The Dagger is just a good, solid, no-frills pistol. Mine has been every bit as reliable as my Glock. The bells & whistles provided by other manufacturers aren’t there, but the price reflects it. And the one feature that is the most desired (reliability) has not been compromised.
