Thank you to all of the other guides on the Wiki here for helping me find places to hunt, and places to make some money while leveling! Green_Mage Augur. You would probably just root rot pre-torpor. In general it is better to root. Some mobs in later expansions don't let you root kill them. That's where shaman begins to shine at solo. Root roting is inefficient, but all Shaman solo is. Doesn't sound any less efficient than casting slows and heals.

On Phinny I have two 5-box crews. One crew has a cleric healer and the other crew has a shaman healer. For the most part the shaman can heal things just fine, up to and including DoDH hard missions. What you will find, though, is that there are gaps in your leveling/zone selection where the shaman can't keep up.
