I'm thinking of playing a Fighter with a touch of Devil blood in him (via Sorcerer feats). I think I'd play him like a switch-hitter: throw some spells at first, and then use Bespell Weapon and start slashing.

Boots of Bounding are the best things if you want to max out your movement speed. They give an Item bonus, unlike the Elvenkind duo, so it stacks with Longstrider if you get access to it, the Monk speed boost, and the Barbarian speed boost. Cloak of the Bat is lovely for any stealthy character who might like some 1/day flight as well.As for archetypes, there were two that looked immediately promising to be. The first is the Medic archetype, which will bring your Medicine skill to Expert so you can take Continual Healing at level 3. This allows you to heal often and for basically free.
