All Model 12 are Take Down. They are the better of the two guns. They are balanced much better and they handle way better than a Model 97. A Model 97 is a "Model T" and a Model 12 is a "Mustang". It is very easy to tell if a Model 97 is a take down by looking for the take down pin/lever at the end of the magazine.
