3 posts · Joined 2006. #1 · May 29, 2007. I have a 34Z Gravely with a 15 hp Kawasaki and this is whats happening. When we start it up when it is cold it runs fine. After it warms up it starts to miss on one cylinder. I changed the coil but it didn't seem to help. Has anyone ever encountered this. Your help would be greatly appreciated.This problem comes up whenever I try to accelerate really fast. It will get to around 9k RPM and then just completely sputter and bog down, and then the power surges up and down. I have been researching this problem for the past two weeks, and I have yet to find a fix for it. Things I have tried: -Seafoamed the gas tank.So I have the engine in and running. It runs well on full throttle and with the blades and drive going, but at low speed it surges and hunts. I accidentally read the tappet clearance wrong from the manual and ground way too much off the valve stems .040 instead of .004. If the fuel pump is getting weak, then the injectors can't deliver enough fuel to keep the engine running properly.Kawasaki V2 engine problems. Try running without an air filter. These new engines of all makes are running so lean you can not running them without an air filter which makes it hard to do carb work on some of them. On some engines I have had to make a special filter set up to do carb work.

Take a small pair of vice grips and clamp down and turn the studs but just loosen them. Don't try to back them out completely with the vice grips. Snug but don't tighten the two bolts back on the carburetor. Then put the nuts on one stud and tighten the two nuts together.
