If the reading is zero or close to zero, then the stator is good.

A motorcycle stator is an important part of the electrical system on your bike. It converts the AC current from the alternator to DC current, which is needed to power the bike’s electrical components. The most common symptoms of a bad motorcycle stator are dimming lights, a weak spark, and a bike that won’t start.

Test the stator windings: Connect the ohmmeter’s probes to the stator’s terminal points, and take note of the resistance reading. Compare the results: Refer to the motorcycle’s service manual for the specified stator resistance range. The measured resistance should fall within this range. Apr 25, 2024 · Testing the stator on Harley-Davidson motorcycles involves using a multimeter, either with or without a running motorcycle engine. With the engine off, the technician will test for a broken winding wire. If the engine is running, a technician will test the voltage going into the battery.
