I would also suggest "Skysights skins" but it's for males only and I wasn't literally able to find a decent female counterpart, they're all too smooth.

Secondly, load everything in SSEedit and find the npcs that are getting grey face in Skyrim.esm or maybe one of the WICO plugins inside the non-player character section, and see which mod overwrites them. Previously I was running WICO > ICOW > WICO/ICOW Patch Now I am running ICOW > WICO > WICO/ICOW patch and the blackfaces are gone, so far. I suppose this means that the game was expecting WICO facegen values, but was being supplied with ICOW facegen values at the last stage, causing the blackface. Modifying packages didn't have an effect.In my opinion, WICO is the only mod that significantly improves on the vanilla NPCs without making everyone look too pretty. HMB 2 would be my second choice; personally, I think that its "smoothing out" of the vanilla NPCs makes them lose some of the character their janky vanilla versions had. I'm looking to overhaul as many NPCs as possible. As a base, I'm deciding between Inhabitants of Skyrim and WICO, but definitely leaning towards WICO. After the base, I'm going with Bijin AIO, and I'm thinking of Pandorable's NPCs, Fresh faces, RS Children, Men of Winter, and Males of Skyrim. Load order would probably be Pandorable's --> Fresh ... I actually managed to get Hishutup's WICO clean up script to work, which removes all those protected flags and restores many of the USSEP fixes (like taking the Karthspire Redoubt jail key away from Addvar and giving him the key to his house in Solitude for instance) that WICO un-did and that the compatibility patch did not address.

WICO is a broken mod. It will require patching with both xedit scripts and band-patching or it will break vanilla quests and spit back characters with blackface. {Diversity, Inhabitants of Skyrim, Humans Mer and Beastfolk} are all better choices. I would also personally argue that Total Character Makeover is significantly out-classed.
