At 600 whp they seem to last about 100 passes. At less than 400whp, the gears should last almost indefinitely, barring other problems. At 800whp, it's probably in the area of 10 passes. Horsepower in fine for talking about gear life. Any horsepower level is going to have a fairly narrow range of torque it will produce.

I think the first thing to fail in a stock calibrated TH400 due to power would usually be the direct clutches. The sprag is a weak point also but I think engine rpm is as much of a killer as power.
