The only way to tell a 351M from a 400 is to pull the head and measure the stroke, or pull the oil pan and reference the crank number. For many years guys were using factory 400 cranks in their 408" stroker 351W builds as that was the only option throughout the 1980's and most of the 1990's. The 351W stroker crank is a good bit lighter than the stock 400 but I doubt it'll be a one-for-one swap.
