Model 25 (old style) magazine problem. i just purchased a new factory magazine for my Marlin 25. It's an '87 so it's a Model 25, not 25n. The mag arrived to day and appeared to be an exact duplicate of my original. However it refuses to lock into the receiver.

It was modified shortly thereafter to use a Reising (H&R) model 65 magazine - which is listed as interchangeable with the Marlin 56/89C magazine, as well as the Ithaca X5C, etc. The catch/release lever was added to the front of the trigger guard. I have just the one Reising mag, and both that and the Marlin 56/89C mags are rather expensive.
