Scav runs are great to enjoy but you don't work up the primary skills of your PMC. Your PMC becomes WAY stronger than your scav via the primary skills. That means if you play the PMC you will end up with more loot. So you don't get good gear for "Free" but you get more money that gives you even better gear.
