The cm2000 should have no problem delivering > 1000 mbps download. The problem is that Comcast hasn't enabled it to deliver next gen upload speed. And, since it's not on the approved list, Comcast probably never will enable it. My advice to you is to first make sure next gen speed is available to you. Only then should you buy a new modem.
